Scrape the wallpaper, paint the walls!

When sweet husband and I bought our first home, it was mostly upgraded in all the right places. It had granite counters in the kitchen and bathrooms and nice looking fixtures for the sinks and lights. As with all homes, though, there were a couple of problem areas.
As with all homes, though, there were a couple of problem areas.
The walls in our bedroom and the kitchen were plagued with dreaded wallpaper! Don't get me wrong - I'm well away of the comeback. Wallpaper is making itself known again with statements walls and textures that upgrade a room. This was not the case in our home.
The Master Bedroom
Our first project was the master bedroom. The layout of the room includes a small "bump out" that the previous owners had used as a sitting area. It had cream wallpaper with large red roses and matching curtains. Inspiration can be found anywhere if you look hard enough and I looked very closely at the color of the leaves on the roses in that wallpaper. It was the perfect shade of sage green. So I bought two gallons of paint, lots of wallpaper scrapers and went to work!

We also chose to update the flush mount light fixture and the knobs on the closet door. The oil rubbed bronze finish compliments the paint color and gave an overall updated feel to this corner of our room. It took about a week to remove all the wallpaper and repaint the space. We listened to music and podcasts and enjoyed putting our own touch on our first home.

The new space is now a dressing area. The vanity houses jewelry, perfume and makeup. The white bookcase is a great space for purses, clutches, and shoes.
Materials Used in the Sitting Room turned Dressing Room:
1. Paint - PPG paints (a friend gave us a great discount. Thank you Travis!)
2. Wallpaper Scraper & remover from Home Depot
3. Flush Mount fixture and knobs from Lowes
4. New curtains from Home Goods
5. The vanity was mine from childhood (French provencal vanity)
6. The white bookcase was donated by a friend but can be found at Target (Thank you Aleena!)
